I usually visit the Amazon website to search for books which are difficult to find in bookshps. As for the other things, I don´t think there are good prices. But i hadn´t heard about this news, actually...

Perhaps Amazon may be revamping their online marketing strategy.

When retailers are linked in to shopping sites, as well as Yahoo and Google, there are times when the shopping sites are bidding for the same terms as Google and Yahoo that a retailer is, so the retailer ends up actually paying twice on a per click basis.

They may have also looked at the numbers, click through purchases versus organic and based on percentages made some serious changes where they saw money leaking. In my opinion (FWIW) I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this.

That being said, are we really sure that Amazon did not communicate their intentions to other shopping sites? Maybe no one is saying anything for fear of a pullback in per click advertising. I am no expert at this but I have had to become knowledgeable after being approached by a lot of online marketers wanting much more money than is necessary to promote us on the web.

Our usage numbers go up each day. This is partially due to the fact that lots of new people download the application, but also due to the average number of scans per user increasing. Amazon still shows up in results, but less frequently.

The real use case for ShopSavvy is local results. Amazon is rarely the best online price so if you were going to transition from a local purchase to an online purchase it would be the 'best' online price that would cause the transition. Amazon was usually not the reason. So at the end of the day, it isn't a big deal I guess.

Hi Alex - What do you think the consumer response will be? Are people going to jump through the extra hoops necessary (browse on the mobile web, get the Amazon iPhone app, etc) to get the Amazon price or do you think consumers will just stick with ShopSavvy and ignore the fact Amazon is missing?

Ahh, I hadn't heard of that. Is it only Best Buy, or are other retailers following suit?

The real reason is likely a recent change by Best Buy that price matches Amazon prices in store. This is likely killing Amazon.
