Why start a company?
June 8, 2009
Max Chafkin explains Paul Graham’s reasoning, “Because for all the pain, [Paul] believes that founding a company is the most efficient way to create wealth — for investors, for founders, for society at large.”
Paul is exactly right and it seems everyone knows it too. Why else would so many people leave the security of full-time jobs with benefits to start their own company? Everyone knows there is a 90%+ chance of failure, but entrepreneurs keep betting against the house in the hopes they have a winner.
Max’s article titled, “The Startup Guru: Y Combinator’s Paul Graham” worth the read. I can’t help but think places like Dallas can learn something from his model - 145 startups and counting.
