Startup Profile: Inanovation
July 7, 2008
Inanovation doesn’t use Gamma Radiation to make their batteries green and no the Incredible Hulk isn’t using them. Inanovation is a Dallas-based started founded in April of 2007. Their NanoGreen batteries are nanotechnology based lithium batteries that provide long-life energy storage solutions for military, commercial, and industrial applications. Inanovation’s target customers are traditional lead-acid battery users (telecoms, uninterruptable power systems, electric utilities, and solar power) who need to:
- Reduce their total cost of ownership (TCO) by eliminating costly battery maintenance and replacement costs
- Improve battery system reliability and expand operating environment limits
- Eliminate environmental concerns with no heavy metals or toxic chemicals
- Reduce the excessive size and weight of lead-acid battery systems by over 50%
Q. Why did you start the company?
A. My two partners and I started the company to change the world by creating a fully-green battery to replace lead acid batteries throughout the world.
Q. What is your company culture like?
A. We are focused as people on green projects in the developing world. Stephen, our CEO is a big fan of Africa, Jim, our president is helping in disaster relief, and I was in India when the Tsunami hit. Many coastal leaders were at my gathering, 1/2 hour inland, which saved their lives and enabled them to deal with much of the initial suffering.
Q. Do you have an exit strategy planned?
A. Yes, we do have an “exit strategy” but would prefer to build a solid business with excellent revenues over the next 5-7 years.
