Bringing the Incredible Hulk Home! (don’t try this at home)
July 5, 2008
Last month I bought a life-size Incredible Hulk statue from Marvel (i.e. the ones you have seen in the theaters). I was finally able to pick up the statue, with Chris’ help. OMG it is VERY hard to get a 8′6″x6′6″x6′6″ statue out of a theater and into an office building (don’t try it at home). I mentioned that I won the auction last month and Chris from Squeejee commented that if my wife didn’t let me keep it I should donate it to his non-profit, Heroes 4 Heroes. I wasn’t about to give up my Hulk, but I was certainly willing to help Chris get one. Two phone calls later the great folks from Marvel agreed to donate two Incredible Hulk statues, one for Iraq and one for Afghanistan. More recently Marvel donated an additional statue for Heroes 4 Heroes to auction off (I think he is going to have various comic artists sign it so it will be worth more). Anyway, you gotta love blogs as a way to connect people with a need and people who want to help. Hopefully the Hulk will bring a smile or two to our troops.
Heroes 4 Heroes was founded by Chris McCoskey. From their website: We work directly with members of the United States Military, corporations, and the general public to provide portable media to active troops in order to boost morale and keep our men and women in uniform culturally tuned-in. We gather, organize, and send entertainment material such as comic books, DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, MP3 players, and game systems to our Heroes. Heroes4Heroes is a Dallas, Texas based 503c non-profit corporation(pending). Just like our troops, we do this because we believe in the cause. You can contact Scott Hinze (Media Relations, Founder), Dallas Pollei (Military Relations, Founder) or Chris McCroskey (Fund Raising, Founder) with any questions or special gifts.
