Get your own piece of the Internet high ground

Steve Gillmor has suggested that, “who controls TinyURL or Snurl or other URL shortner controls the high ground in the battle for the Internet platform“. You can read his post titled, “Surviving the Net” to understand why. We built a URL shortener a while back called ElfURL and a couple of years ago we released the source code so that anyone who wanted to operate their own URL shortner can. I don’t know if Steve is right, but you can find out for yourself by downloading and installing the source: ElfURL source code.
