Selling BigBrown.com?
June 1, 2008
Several weeks ago the owners of Kentucky Derby Winner Big Brown contacted one of our employees and offered to buy the domain name BigBrown.com for $5,000. After a short conversation I suggested that it might make sense to see if we could get more. I contacted Mike Arrington (who has some experience in this space) and his people suggested it might be worth between $50,000 and $60,000. Quickly thereafter I was offered $65,000, but we decided not to sell, but to instead wait until after the Preakness. Once Big Brown won the Preakness we received several more bids between $150,000 and $200,000. We decided to take one of these offers, but then Big Brown hurt his hoof and the offers disappeared. It looks like we are going to let it ride until the Belmont Stakes is run on Saturday. Keep your ‘hoofs’ crossed.

Well, you better hope no third stringer takes him to school in the Belmont.
Good luck.
