Startups that out live you . . .

May 13, 2008

/files/2008/05/skywiresoftware_logo.gifIt is a fact that most startups fail and the ones that don’t are often gobbled up by another company never to be heard from again.  There are obvious exceptions Apple, Google and Dell.  My business partner (currently in six different companies/investments with him) is Scott Ryan.  He started a software company back in the 1990’s called Skywire Software.  He started the company from scratch, eventually raising $5,000,000 from Craig Hall (who now owns the whole thing).  Today the company has more than 2,400 customers in 45 countries, including almost every major insurance company (totaling more than 1,450).  The only reason I thought about Skywire was because the company is announcing a new software solution called Ingage for insurance carriers.  Congratulations to Skywire on making it, congratulations to Scott for coming up with the idea and getting it off the group.  Great work!

Thanks for the mention, I wish I could take full credit for Skywire Software, but the fact remains that without Patrick Brandt the company wouldn’t exist today. I couldn’t have imagined that what we started together would have evolved into the business it is today.
