Brad Merritt forwarded me an interesting article from (holding my nose) Newsweek by Jonathan Alter. Yea, you might have noticed, I am a conservative and a member of the Republican party.

Newsweek was purchased by the Washington Post Company in 1961. Newsweek is generally considered the most liberal of the three major newsweeklies, an assertion supported in a recent UCLA study on media point of view. For example in the past decades the magazine’s editorial staff was often critical of the Nixon and Reagan Administrations.

So, your objection is not that it’s necessarily any more or less biased than the National Review, but only that it’s biased in the opposite direction.

At least you’re open about your biases and folks don’t have to wonder about where you stand. I can respect that, even if I occasionally disagree with your stances. (Although despite the fact that somehow I got myself elected to be a delegate to the local Democratic convention, I’ll bet you and I agree more than we disagree on most topics.)

:) very few people wonder where I stand. You are likely correct about agreeing on most topics. From a world-view we Americans are often indistinguishable from on another (i.e. foreigners can’t tell us apart based on our views).

The problem with media outlets like Newsweek is that they are dishonest. The National Review, or the Nation from the other side of the aisle, at least don’t try and hide their biases.

I am now of the opinion that Obama will get his clock cleaned by McCain. Look what happened when the press finally came after Obama yesterday. He was like a deer caught in the headlights. His shtick is getting old, in that people are starting to figure out he hasn’t really offered anything so far beyond empty platitudes and an extremely depressing narrative of life in America.

McCain, who I am not a big fan of, said it best last night: both Hillary and Barack intend to argue they will keep jobs in America by making it harder for them to do business here. Or that the shortest path to peace in the Middle East is surrender. A tax raising, protectionist, weak on national defense campaign will never succeed no matter how good the politician, and it is looking more and more like McCain will press those issue forcefully and, I believe, successfully.

I came by chance upon this page and as of today (03/16/8), the date of the above quotation/anticipation is three weeks old - yet, even so its author shows a remarkably asinine astutness as how this country works.
“McCain will be a be a child’s play for Obama,” - baby, Obama has lost, he’s over, he and Hillary are like Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty falling in Niagara, hands clutchedont each other’s throat. If you ain’t got the sense of this yet, check on republicans, they’re damn’ good at sniffing situations - they simply stopped minding Hillary or Obama, because they (and this nation AND the rest of the world) have realised that McCain IS (and WILL BE) the next US president. Why waste time and money challenging them? Their incompetence is their fatal enemy. As far as a debate beetwen McCain and Obama, that’s a quarterback vs. an airbag. Again, t’s over babe, relax, the next five months will be just one embarrasment after another for liberals like you (if liberals can be possibly embarrased by something). It’s over, and you, “hope’n change” flock can retire to your barns and henhouses and re-start cooing, barfing, braying and bleating for the next fraudulent Messiah you’ve been waiting for - it won’t happen in 2008, and it won’t happen in 2012 either - and that will close the cycle of this Obama idiocy.
