Target, unfortunately I won’t be shopping at your store anymore.

Doug Meacham has a great round-up of clueless companies titled ‘Companies Without Conversation.‘ Doug introduced Amy Jussel a blogger who had a problem with Target’s latest billboard in Times Square. She sent a letter to Target who responded:
Good Morning Amy, Thank you for contacting Target; unfortunately we are unable to respond to your inquiry because Target does not participate with non-traditional media outlets. This practice is in place to allow us to focus on publications that reach our core guest. Once again thank you for your interest, and have a nice day.
Of course, it is ironic that Target has a Facebook account and seems to be astro-turfing the blog-o-sphere with their ‘Rounders‘ program. Target would have been better off ignoring Amy instead of blowing her off. It is like Target told her, ’sorry, but you don’t matter.’ Turns out Amy matters and as a result you won’t find me at Target ~ ‘have a nice day.’
Update: the New York Times picked up on the story in an article titled, ‘Target Tells a Blogger to Go Away!‘

I’ve had a blog for three years and even I know they are irrelevant.
