Austin based Thoof for sale?

According to Stacey Higginbotham’s sources social news site Thoof is for sale. The Digg style news aggregator. She tried to get the CEO Ian Clark to comment, but he declined. She also tried to contact Austin Ventures the primary investor in the business, but they did not return her emails or calls. That didn’t stop Stacey from doing a little digging on LinkedIn where she learned that Alan Ren, the company’s co-founder is no longer with the company. Stacey describes the site:
Thoof combined community features like those offered by Digg, whereby users could vote on the news they were most interested in, with wiki functionality that allowed people to edit articles. Through visits, the site’s recommendation software learned what a reader wanted, and over time strove to deliver a personalized list of news to users.
Not sure what there is to buy, but the site is no longer up and running so you better hurry…
