How you can respond to crazy!

September 20, 2006

Members of the U.N. General Assembly got a full bowl of crazy this week, thanks in most part to Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran). I have an idea how normal folks like you and me can respond, but first some background.

Chavez began his presentation to the U.N. by calling George Bush the devil. This follows his claim that the U.S. government had a hand in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. He suggests that we did it to justify our attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq.

Ahmadinejad suggested in his speech that he would gladly sacrifice 50% of Iran’s 68,017,860 citizens if he could destroy Israel and its entire population of 6,276,883 jews. I believe him. Ahmadinejad has claimed repeatedly that the holocaust was a myth created as a pretext for carving out a Jewish state. He suggest that 6MM jews were never killed, but he would gladly kill 6MM jews today if he could.

Seems like Chavez and Ahmadinejad are reading from the same playbook and, in fact, they are allies. There is a simple way we can hit Chavez and Ahmadinejad where it hurts - we can boycott Citgo gas stations in the United States (and those stations who resell Citgo). Citgo is the state owned oil company of Venezuela. Citgo has over 14,000 stations in the United States. Additionally 7-Eleven resells Citgo gas. Stop buying gas from Citgo and you will send a very clear message to both men.

Israeli foreign minister Livni said, “Iranian leaders pose the biggest threat to the world’s values because they “speak proudly” of their wish to destroy Israel and pursue weapons to achieve that objective.”
