Logoworks tackles Spur branding
May 31, 2006
Michael Arrington wrote about Logoworks recent redesign (I like it much better now). He even had them take a pass at the TechCrunch logo. We have been talking about Logoworks for a long while and have used their service on seven projects. Our latest is the branding of our new company name: Spur. Here are their latest comps, what do you think?

I can’t say that any of thos look very intriguing or professional.

The simpler the better, I think. I prefer the top two, and of those, the one on the top left is the best.

i say knock the cowboy style down about 10 notches. you are not making a logo for the next boot shop. i agree with the other two posts, try to keep it more professional.
the top left is the best.
and i have nothing wrong with cowboy style, i used to live in dallas.

I don’t like any of them. The only two that don’t scream redneck are the middle two and the letters are so smashed together that it hurts my eyes to read.

I do not like any of them.

I’m no design guru, but I know bad design when I see it and these designs are B-A-D. Please don’t agree to use one of them.
Wow, I keep looking up at them just to see if they’ll look better… it didn’t work. I could come up with one better than those and I’m an amateur.
I’d hate to hear how much they’re charging for these. You’re better off hitting up LogoMaid or LogYes.
Maybe tell us a little about Spur and we can recommend some ideas..?

Top left is the only one that resonates with me. I’d consider a new round.

What do I think?
They are all just AWFUL - like something a elementary school kid would design.
Think of Shell Oil, Nike, Apple all great designs that do NOT need descriptive text.
Alex I offer to design any logo you want for free if you will abandon your support for those hacks at logoworks.

I wouold have them do a couple refinements to the top left logo.

The top left is best, it would be cool if it was on the top right over the R though.

To me, the usage of “spur” is about “spurring on innovation”, not about “spurs”. So the top left is my choice of these, but I don’t know that the spur itself needs a predominant featuring.

If you could make the r in spur an upside-down cowboy boot with an attached spur, it would be cool, but I am not sure it can be done gracefully.

You had better watch out for these logoworks boys. You may end up in court :(

What in the world is that? I sincerely hope you’re not going to approve this draft are you?
Not a bit of innovation or design expertise and they’ve relied entirely on stock fonts. Is logoworks.com a new company? You should only trust established design firms…
