Not fair? I am proposing changing the CURRENT system. The CURRENT system is wack - i.e. that you pay taxes as an H1B holder and don't get to use our benefits. I agree, change the current system.

the tax free is not fair due to the fact that I, as an H1B holder, pays the regular taxes on my salary plus I am not allowed to use the any benefits the government gives because I am not a citizen even if I pay my taxes and dues. I came here through legal process and until now is still waiting for my adjustment of status to immigrant be approved. Why can't they (undocumented aliens) go through the same path as we did? Criminal background check should be one of the first 3 steps towards legalization, needs to speak english because this is North America not South America. Pay taxes.

and pay for their own health insurance.
pay tax like american.
must have a 4 years degree.
give us US citizen after 10 years staying here.

Lets just bite the bullet and say it like it is...

...EVERYONE is welcome here as long as you play by the rules.

There's already a process in place for anyone who wants the American dream to get it - and I welcome that person.

But...if you are going to sneak into the country, work three jobs and not pay any income tax, exploit the services for all they are worth and then wire 90% of the money you make back to your home country...get out!

It is interesting the tax free thing has created the most comments. The fact is they DONT pay income taxes now; however, they do pay taxes. The taxes that pay for our schools (property taxes from renting apartments), they pay taxes that build our roads (sales taxes through good purchased) and so on.

I actually support the idea of a flat tax 15-17% of all income over $35,000 for all U.S. citizens - that way no one making less than $35,000 will have to pay income tax (they still have to pay the taxes that support our states - i.e. property and sales taxes).

But, I am just proposing a solution that will increase safety in our country and prevent an entire class of people from remaining criminals. Businesses are a huge lobby - they want cheap illegal workers. Why do you think there are no laws punishing businesses for breaking the law? Why no instant checks on SSN cards? Lobbyists. Anyway, my plan does not solve all the problems - just takes into account what is already happening.

Alex,

It is hard enough for Legals to come over to the US. Why make it so easy for illegals? Everyone is welcome to come to the US LEGALLY! I don't think anything is free, therefore everyone should pay taxes, especially for educational purposes. Maybe we could pay the teachers a little more if we weren't educating so many kids for free!

I with you guys. Giving immigrants tax free income is a joke. They drive on our roads, they use our healthcare (mostly without paying), they attend our schools. Taxes pay for this.

I don't debate that immigrants are invaluable to our economy - they are. But they should be paying taxes just like everyone else and stop using our healthcare system unless they can pay for it. The healthcare freeloaders, lawyers, and insurance companies have managed to ruin our healthcare system.

$35,000.00 - tax free???

I would denounce my ( u.s. ) citizenship, and work as an illegal using three different "guest worker" names.

35k + 35k + 35k = $105,000.00 tax free
